David Price Robinson

David Price Robinson, more affectionately known as Rahman and Rock, the oldest of 4 children was born on July 17, 1965 to the late David Robinson and Margie Leonard in Newark, NJ.  On Saturday, August 15, 2020, “Inna lilahi wa inna ilayhi rajiun.”

David attended Newark Public Schools, and graduated from Central High School in 1983.  Upon graduation David held numerous positions.  At the time of his death David was employed by the Acme Staff Mr. Cookie, in Lakewood, NJ he was respected and loved for his sense of humor.    

David lived in Newark, NJ his entire life. One of the most beautiful gifts in his life was the birth of his daughter Ayanna.  Ayanna blessed her father with four beautiful grandchildren; Al’Yasir, Tone’yah, I’yan, and A’Shi.

David affectionately known as Rock was loved by everyone he met.  His pleasing personality would win you over.  He was a gentleman, respectful of his elders and all children loved him.  Cracking jokes was his style, he missed his calling as a comedian, he was a live wire.  His favorite saying was “Woo Woo Woo.”

Rock took care of his friends, if you needed him, he was there, a better friend you couldn’t have.  Rock would give you the clothes off his back and his last dollar.

Now, let’s not forget his construction skills, that man could build a house from the ground up.  Rock loved house music, Lincoln Park and anywhere house music was played, he was there.  He could cut a rug; dancing was his forte.

Let it be known if Rock was in your corner, you had a solid commitment.  Of all things about Rock, he had a tremendous amount of love and respect for family.   May Almighty Allah dwell him in Jannatual Firdaus.

David leaves to cherish in his memory his mother, Margie Leonard: daughter; Ayanna Walker: siblings; Dana Robinson, Dennis Leonard (Candi), and Chantei Leonard: grandchildren;  Al-Yasir, Tone-yah, I-yan, and AShi: aunts and uncles; Preston Wright, Carlton (Kabir) Wright, and Pamela Wright,  nieces and nephew: Zya, Aamin, Samaya, Wynter, Brooklyn, and Assata; cousins: Andrea, Tony, Rhena, Aneesa, Elijah, Vondeze, Tashia, Shaqunnah, Inez, Melony, Darryl, and Don; and a host of friends and relatives. 

David joins his family that predeceased him:  father; David Robinson, grandparents; Viola and Preston Wright and Ruby and Willie McNeely, aunt; Altamese Stephens, uncle; Tyrone Samad Wright, nephew; Rubin Samad Donaldson and cousin; Preston Wright, III.
