Rashad Aziz Muhammad was born June 7,1958 in Paterson N.J., to parents Missie Gainey-Coley and George Wallace Mason, Like Missie, a member of the N.A.A.C.P, he was of a noble heart and immersed with his people. Like his father, a dedicated hard-working man with a firm grip at life. A straight arrow, Rashad was also a phenomenal athlete, and a martial artist. Rashad was a devoted Muslim and well-respected former Imam of Masjid Salahuddin, Shura Board member, Co Convenor of Eid Committee, and activist in the W D Mohammad Community for nearly 40 years.
He was the founding father of the Out of Mouths of Babes Society, Khalifaat University, and the Great Falls Media Group. As his family's patriarch he also extended himself to co-workers and even brothers in the Judiciary System where he performed Islamic services.
A true servant to his Creator, survived by Isaac Coley of Passaic, Elaine Coley of Paterson, twin sister Jamillah Muhammad of Paterson, Al-Nisa Coley of Passaic, Audrey Mason of Florida, George Mason Jr. of Paterson. His four children Ishaq Muhammad of Virginia, Sakinah Muhammad of Virginia, Ayisha Muhammad of Virginia, and Yusuf Muhammad of California with former wife. Rashad was a loving grandfather of 6; Lamont Garris, Alani Nickens, Salihah & Samira Okpom, Niani Duran-Muhammad, Marcell Abdul-Kabir Muhammad and expecting 1 on the way.
Rashad graduated from Passaic High School and continued his lifelong journey in Education at Essex/Union County NJ, Miami Dade, FL and NYU. With a career in IT, he worked at great companies like Panasonic and AIG and Paterson. He founded the IFJE Thought Institute and the Sittah Model Index System. A perfectionist, he was finalizing his highly anticipated book, "Edification of a People". A man of faith that valued his family and treasured his community. Rashad Aziz Muhammad - Muslim, Imam, Father, Brother, Uncle, Cousin, Friend lived a well lived life. In his words "Life Goes on, and there is Great work to be done. The Journey Continues".
