Inna illahi wa inna ilayhi raji 'un
From Allah we come, and back to Allah we will go
Zena 'Kareemah Tiny' Johnson returned to Allah on Sunday, February 7, 2021.
The youngest daughter of Robert and Jean Johnson, Sister Kareemah was a true ray of light. Born and raised in Newark, New Jersey, Sister Kareemah was a proud graduate of Central High School, where she picked up her love for dancing that she often demonstrated at family gatherings. Although she was nicknamed 'Tiny' for her small stature in her youth, she had a massive heart that overflowed with love. She poured love into everyone, especially her nieces and nephews as well as the adolescents she mentored while working at AmeriCorp Youth Clubhouse located in Hudson, New York.
During her outreach work, she earned many certificates of appreciation in recognition for the efforts she made to encourage troubled youth to survive their circumstances and create an environment that pleased Allah to thrive in this life and the hereafter.
She leaves behind sisters Camilla Johnson, Donna Johnson, Malika Jean Johnson, Blanche Johnson, and brothers Michael Jones, Barry Jones, Herman Johnson, and Tariq Johnson. She is preceded in death by her father Robert Johnson, aunt Loretta Jones, nephew Ibn Johnson, niece Kyana Johnson, and uncle Charles Jones Jr. Sister Kareemah Tiny leaves behind a host of nieces, including Nazaarah Johnson, who was like a daughter to her, great-nieces, nephews including Sharif Johnson who was like a son to her, great-nephews, cousins and friends including her bestie/cousin Karimah Muhammad-Harris all of which were loved deeply. She also leaves behind a special friend Michael James who loved her dearly.
